Our home. Your temporary home
Our senior - Herbert Thaler, has always been and still is a busy landlord. Of course, only in a positive sense. And so everything came about as it should. It all began for Herbert and Gill Thaler at a fun evening in a hut, and Gill, who came from Great Britain, was on a winter holiday in the Wildschönau. What they found was great love and a blessing for both of them. When Hotel Sonnschein came under the ownership of Hotels in 1998, she made it what it is today: a home away from home. Dear Gill, we know you are looking after our Sonnschein. Rest in Peace.
Herbert Thaler - The creator of the Hotels
Herbert Thaler - a man who has brought dreams to life with his own hands.
He is the creator of the Harmonie Hotels, known and appreciated for his unique harp evenings, which he celebrates himself and which often serve as the main reason for our guests' bookings. As a visionary, he continuously strives for new ways of expansion and growth.
On the construction site, he recognises opportunities like no other. Through years of experience, he has a deep understanding of every process. His ideas are turned into reality with determination and passion. Herbert's beaming smile not only welcomes our guests, but enchants them from the very beginning.
With an open heart and a helping hand, he is always on hand to fulfil every wish and take on every challenge. His whole life is dedicated to the hotel and you can feel it in every detail. From the early hours of the morning until sunset, he lives and breathes for our home.
Guest satisfaction is his top priority and he spares no effort to ensure that every stay is unforgettable. Despite all his successes and tasks, Herbert never forgets his human side.
Warmth and care make him a unique host.
Emily Thaler - Host with passion
Our hotel is my home, and the hotel's name has influenced me since my earliest childhood. For me, the hotel is much more than my home; it is a place where many people meet, spend pleasant hours together, laugh, celebrate, relax, and cuddle. The "sunshine smile" is probably a gift that immediately enchants our guests.
What makes me tick?
I love being a hostess, working with people, and creating an atmosphere that makes our guests and staff feel "just like home". Yes, that is my goal, and I have been working towards this for a long time. In the many years at the tourism school and later at the University MCI Innsbruck, I never lost sight of the goal: Namely, to be a hostess with heart and soul, but also to find the balance between work and leisure.
Where do I draw strength?
On the back of my beloved mare, who always grounds and challenges me, at a brunch with friends or funny phone calls with my family, which is spread across the continent but always close.
What makes me happy and satisfied?
When we manage to make you leave our house with a "sunshine smile" and already dreaming of your next holiday.
A tribute to Gill and Walter Thaler and our beloved pet cat Chilly
The loss leaves a gap that is difficult to fill, and although they are no longer with us, their memory remains alive in our hearts.
Gill Thaler
Gill Thaler, the driving force behind our Hotel Sonnschein, has shaped our temporary home with her dedication and vision. In addition to the operational business, she always found time for her family and the continuous development of our hotel. Today, we are grateful for Gill's unique approach to preparing Sonnschein for her daughter Emily. Her spirit lives on in Emily, who continues to develop the hotel with great passion. There is no stagnation at the Sonnschein - only progress and the memory of an extraordinary woman who will touch our hearts forever.
Walter Thaler
Walter Thaler was a true all-rounder in the field of technology.
His siblings, Maria and Herbert, are not only losing a brother, but also a loving and always helpful family man. He was not only our valued in-house technician, but also a specialist in coffee machines. Local innkeepers brought their machines to him to have them repaired and relied on his unrivalled expertise. Walter was the grill master on our mountain pasture and his culinary skills delighted us all. Most of the time, however, he could be found in his workshop, immersed in repairs and technical tinkering. His craftsmanship was just as impressive as his passion for food. Walter was a true gourmet and was known for curing the best bacon. His delicious creations were especially loved by Emily and his cousin Susanne.
We will remember Walter as a man who enriched the lives of many people with his skill and warmth. His memory will live on in our hearts.
Chilly
Chilly, our beloved house cat, who was an integral part of our hotel for over 12 years and enriched us with her charm. Chilly accompanied our junior manager since childhood. As a symbol of cosiness and love, she gave us all countless happy moments every day.
What made Chilly special? Cuddling, being stroked, eating - and the happiness of reading in the delightful eyes of children when they called her name. Chilly was more than just a cat, she was an integral part of our family and made every guest at Sonnschein feel at home.

Brigitte Amon - the good soul of the house
Brigitte Amon - the good soul of the house
Yes, those stormy times in the Hotel Sonnschein and Brigitte stood there like a rock in the surf and are now the house's good soul. She is Emily's most outstanding support, and Herbert manages to establish the necessary connection and balance between the young and the experienced. She is a magician, organisational talent and "surrogate mummy" and ensures everyone leaves the house with a smile.
What makes me tick?
I love organisation and when everything is organised down to the smallest detail. Of course, things can get a bit crazy sometimes, but I never lose sight of the big picture - that's my motto. Especially as a back office professionals, we must advise our guests authentically, as if we were planning the holiday for ourselves.
Where do I draw strength from?
My family, my dog Sunny and precious moments with my family. That distracts me and gives me new thoughts.
What makes me happy?
Praise for our work and when our guests go home satisfied.
Honest hospitality
Who grows up in the romantic Wildschönau has always been closely connected with the region and its people. For us, the Wildschönau simply is the most beautiful part of Tyrol. That is why we find our support not only in family, but also in the nurture of traditions and the nature around us. Therefore, it is not surprising that almost all family members have taken on a purpose in the Hotels and incidentally are musical, too. Every new day on which we perform our duty, we want to dedicate ourselves to your well-being in our hotels and to making your stay nicer with small gestures: e.g a radiant smile or an animated conversation.
